The Queen's new diggs

Well after much procrastination I've finally started AND completed the Queen's bedroom. She's as pleased as punch with her bubble gum pink and lavender purple diggs.

Happy Halloween

New furniture....finaly

Nearly two months later the new furniture has finally arrived. How sad is it that this was the highlight to my week..lol.

A model life?

So the little one has decided she wants to be a model when she grows up among so many other things (she also said she wants to be a "Cooker Teacher"). We have no idea where this idea came from, but she has been posing up a storm and asking us to take photos of her at every moment.

Painted the house

We finally painted the house and deck, got the trim up around the windows and touched it all up. Next year will be the railings and the sofits, but this is a good start in the right direction.

Another Remember when moment....

Remember when your upper body strength was enough to hold you up and monkey bars were done with ease? Youth really is wasted on the young.

Remember when.....

Remember back in the day when a pay cheque ment a new pair of jeans, or trip to the salon, or maybe some new make up.....for yourself? If only we could relive the excitement of "free money"...ahh the memories.

Quarters for Cancer

That's right, the little man has shed his handsome locks for a fresher, lighter look and we couldn't be prouder. Our grade one student made the decision on his own to shave his head for a terrific cause. His school held a fundraiser called "Quarters for Cancer" and he quickly made the decision to donate both his hair and allowance.

Blood IS thicker then water

My husband's brother, wife and children spent the weekend here recently. The kids had not seen eachother since they were babies, yet seemed to easily pick up where they left off nearly 6 years ago. It was a great weekend of running, playing, laughing and goofy antics.

Just a Guy and his Chicks

Every year the grade one class at our Son's school purchases eggs from the local hatchery for the classroom. Once all the eggs have hatched they give them away to anyone who would like them and has a farm. Tuesday afternoon our little guy came home, got down on his knees and begged to bring home a chick or two to keep.

He had obviously thought about it a lot during the bus ride home from school as he had quite the debate strategy preplanned in his head, with details of how to care for them, how it would help him learn responsibility and how for everything we give to the chicks they give back in nutritious eggs. How could we say "No"?
Thank goodness for the Internet! We learned so much about their needs and care that we never knew before. There sure is a lot more to keeping the little ladies then we first thought.

The things that unite

It's funny the things that unite. How quickly we can all go from "Mom she's looking at me", or "Dad he just stuck his tongue out at me" to "Yeah, ok now lets trade cause you are better at this part then I am.....you're AWESOME!"

Thank you Atkins

10 pounds down. Another 30 to go (and if anyone makes fun of the makeup less face here i'll.....yes that means you Trefor). Atkins turned out to be the best thing for me. I finally found out why I have had heart burn for the past 30 years of my life....wheat! I never would have known that was the issue had I not totally stopped eating all bread and pasta.
On a completely separate note...ever have someone send you an email that at that very second you thought was sort of funny so you then sent it to everyone you know, then AFTER hitting the send button it dawns on you that it wasn't so funny after all. In fact you sort of just made yourself look like a complete ass? Yeah...............I have.

What's in our genes?

What all is decided by our genes? I used to think it was just hair colour, eyes and body build, but it looks like there is more to it then that.

Nearly every weekend we have a slumber party in the living room. We drag out our mattress, pop some popcorn and watch movies. Sadly, Mom and Dad are usually the first to fall asleep.

What age is too young?

Our son's 7th Birthday was on the 13th. We hummed and hawed over what to get him. At first we were going to go with the old rule of thumb that to a 7 year old the more presents the better. We had a budget and were going to spend it on several smaller items but then saw that the new Nintendo DS lite was on sale as Costco and included 2 games and a case. We were a little worried that he might be too young for such an expensive toy but decided that he really is a very responsible little guy and would probably go ga ga over it. Sure enough he did. But now guess who wants one in July for her 4th Birthday?
What's even more shocking is that the little princess is actually very good at working the thing. Infact, she can play some of the games better then Mom or Dad. Her favorite pass time is building puzzles, she's at an age 6 and up level right now. The puzzle games on the DS can be pretty tricky but she is catching on fast.
So what age IS too young for technical devices or are all kids just born knowing how to program a computer now a days.

It's all about safety

It's all about the safety around here I tell ya. With four kids in our home the rough housing is constant, so precautions must me taken to ensure the little muffins stay unscathed. We're thinking of purchasing a couple of those Sumo suites soon the problem is that they just don't come quite small enough.....LOL

Work Away From Work

I've recently started working from home...I LOVE IT! I can work in my jammies...drink coffee...chat on IM...spend time with the kids...it's GREAT! I almost never leave the house now! The only thing is, Todd's getting upset with the state of my "office" along with the rest of the place...so I decided to come up with a bit of a "TO DO" list...

Ever look at a picture and wonder......

You know, it seems every morning I wake up and notice something new when I look in the mirror. A new freckle on Monday, a chin hair on Tuesday...but seriously I NEVER saw this. Where in the heck did my jaw go? Seriously! I'm not of crane decent so there is no need for a pocket to carry fish, in fact I don't even like fish! Needless to say a gym membership has now been purchased and a resolution set.

Who is this Trefor?

For those that are wondering who my co-worker Trefor is and why I would put him in my list of things I love I just wanted to clarify. Trefor is my unofficial personal assistant and IT guy. Someday when I'm rich and famous we'll make that all official but until then he works for Tim Horton's coffee and the occasional soda. Now I have to admit that I didn't add his name there and didn't notice it was there for nearly a month, but I think it fitting to stay even though if you were to look at Trefor's list my name didn't make it but my husband's sure did......lol.

How sad is being an adult......

How sad is that we bought new plates and I'm finding it a highlight to my week? Once upon a time, back in the day, if someone had bought me dishes as a gift I would have scoffed and thought it lame. Now I'm totally stoked at the sight of cutlery and kitchen appliances. Oh how times have changed...lol.

You know it's time to move to Cuba when.......

The big storm was expected for Tuesday night around midnight. They estimated 70km per hour winds and 10cm of snow. It was the wind that would be the killer, blowing snow off the fields and onto the roadways. It actually didn't hit us until around 7am Wednesday. Man did it ever hit us! We have been completely snowed in until today. There were snowdrifts on the main road that were over 7 feet tall! The plow even had a hard time getting through. Luckily we were able to flag him down and asked him if he could do our driveway. He's an hourly worker, so thank goodness he was happy to spend the extra time on our driveway....lol. Check out the photo of the kids at the swing set. No, that is not a "special" swing set for little people!

Worst cake I've ever made

Every year I try to make each of the kids a "special" Birthday cake. Now I'm the first to admit that I'm no Marth Stewart but I've usually pulled off a pretty decent cake for each of the kids. For our youngest daughter's Birthday I baked a princess cake. It was pretty cute, it had a big cake dress and a Barbie sticking out of the top. Our oldest said she wanted the same but a "punk rock" version for her 16th. I have no idea what this is...but this is what I made...more of a Barbie in a melted old tire cake....Happy Birthday Sweetheart!
